Four Pillars of Public Engagement

Each program addresses a critical dimension of digital literacy and public information access, tailored to the needs of diverse communities.

📚

Digital Directory Literacy

Our flagship educational program teaching communities how to navigate, verify, and responsibly use public directory information across different countries and platforms. The program includes self-paced online courses, community workshop materials, and multilingual guides covering:

  • Understanding public vs. private directory data
  • How to verify directory information accuracy
  • Recognizing legitimate vs. fraudulent directory services
  • Opt-out procedures and privacy protection strategies
  • Cross-border directory lookup techniques
  • Digital footprint awareness and management

Since its launch in 2022, the Digital Directory Literacy program has reached over 8,000 participants across 15 countries, with materials available in English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian.

Public Utility Access Guides

Comprehensive multilingual resources helping residents understand and access essential public utilities. This program addresses the critical knowledge gap that prevents many individuals from effectively navigating utility systems, particularly in new or unfamiliar regions.

  • Telecommunications provider selection and switching
  • Electricity and gas connection procedures
  • Water utility registration and billing
  • Emergency service contact protocols
  • Consumer rights and complaint procedures
  • Subsidized utility program eligibility

Our utility guides are maintained in partnership with consumer advocacy organizations and are updated quarterly to reflect regulatory changes.

📡

Global Communications Research

An independent research initiative tracking the evolving landscape of global telecommunications infrastructure. Our research team monitors and publishes analysis on:

  • International numbering plan changes and allocations
  • Carrier consolidation and market dynamics
  • Cross-border communication standards and interoperability
  • Emerging technologies (VoIP, 5G, satellite communications)
  • Regulatory developments affecting public directories
  • Digital divide metrics and access equity

Research outputs include quarterly reports, annual landscape analyses, and policy briefs distributed to regulators, academics, and industry stakeholders.

🤝

  • In-person workshop series at community venues
  • Train-the-trainer programs for educators
  • Accessible materials for seniors and individuals with disabilities
  • Multilingual instruction in high-need communities
